Directors approve funding to help bring the Cincinnati Reds
to Goodyear in 2010
(April 7, 2008) - AZSTA Board Members unanimously approved a
revised Cactus League funding plan on April 7, 2008 that
would assist the City of Goodyear in bringing the Cincinnati
Reds to their city in 2010 for spring training for twenty
years.

Spring Training Complex and approve the NFL Super Bowl XLII
License Agreement
(August 16, 2007) - The
Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority (AZSTA) Board of
Directors met Wednesday, August 15th and approved two
agreements with enormous economic implications for the
Valley of the Sun: 1) the Board gave final approval to an
intergovernmental agreement with Glendale to provide $54
million in funding for a new Cactus League Spring Training
Complex, that will be the new training site for the Los
Angeles Dodgers and the Chicago White Sox; and 2) the Board
approved the National Football League License Agreement for
Super Bowl XLII, which will be played on February 3, 2008.

Stadium Job Fair Set to Hire 500 Positions

of Phoenix Stadium, announced that they, along with S.A.F.E.

AZSTA Awards $2,500 to Arizona Flames
Track Club
(Apr. 30, 2007) – AZSTA has granted $2,500 to the Arizona
Flames Track Club to support the organization’s efforts to
develop individuals’ physical and emotional health. The
Arizona Flames are a non-profit organization (501(c)(3)) and
is a member of USA Track and Field. It is headquartered in
Chandler and currently serves approximately 80 athletes with
training, practices and meets.

Reaches a Record Economic Impact of $401.7 Million:
Tostitos BCS National Championship Game Boosts Arizona
Economy by a Record $171.5 Million
(Apr. 26, 2007) – The 2006-07 Fiesta Bowl Festival of
College Football generated an overall economic impact of
$401.7 million, with the Tostitos BCS National Championship
Game alone resulting in a record economic impact of $171.5
million, according to a study by the W. P. Carey Sports
Business Program at Arizona State University.
Faculty researchers surveyed out-of-state visitors who
attended four Fiesta Bowl events: the Insight Bowl, the Blue
Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Fiesta Bowl National Band
Championship, the Tostitos Fiesta Bowl and the Tostitos BCS
National Championship Game. Organizational spending
associated with these events also impacted the Arizona
economy, resulting in the record economic impact of $401.7
million.

Phoenix Career Expo May 16th at Stadium
(Apr. 26, 2007) -- Jobing.com, a leading Phoenix
provider of locally-focused job search and recruiting
services designed to connect local employers and job
seekers, will host its Phoenix Career Expo at the University
of Phoenix Stadium on Wed., May 16 from 12 Noon - 5 p.m. The

AZSTA Workshops Reach out to Youth Sports Grant Applicants:
Sessions designed to help Valley groups seeking $2.25
million in awards
(Apr. 19, 2007) – Representatives from Valley
schools, non-profits and municipalities attended two
workshops this month designed to help them tap into funds
for youth and amateur sports projects. More than 150 people
attended the workshops Apr. 9 and 12 put on by the Arizona
Sports and Tourism Authority (AZSTA) which is awarding $2.25
million in grants this year.
