Amilyn Pierce appointed to Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority Board of Directors

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Amilyn Pierce, the Arizona Diamondbacks’ Vice President, Government Affairs, has been appointed by the Speaker of the House to the Arizona Sports and Tourism Authority (AZSTA) Board of Directors.

A lifelong Arizonan, Pierce joined the club in 2018 following nearly 20 years of experience in legislative affairs, policy making, political strategy and campaign management. She was appointed to fill the vacancy of Maria Baier, whose term expired. Pierce’s term runs to July 2028.

“On behalf of AZSTA, I welcome Amilyn Pierce to the Board of Directors,” AZSTA Board Chair Kim Grace Sabow said. “Amilyn has an outstanding record of public service and has supported the important work of numerous charitable, tourism and commerce organizations. Her experience and relationships will be invaluable resources for AZSTA.”

The AZSTA Board has nine members – five appointed by the Governor and two each by the Speaker of the House and the President of the Senate.

“I am honored to be appointed by the Speaker of the House to serve on the AZSTA board,” Pierce said. “Sports and tourism are key drivers in Arizona’s economy. AZSTA is a source of pride for all Arizonans, and I look forward to collaborating with AZSTA’s stakeholders to carry out its mission and fulfill the promise to Maricopa County voters when they approved Prop. 302. I am excited to join this distinguished board and look forward to serving our great state.”

Before joining the D-backs, Pierce served as Senior Political Director for the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry following a two-year stint as Deputy Chief of Staff for Speaker J.D. Mesnard at the Arizona House of Representatives. In the Arizona Legislature, Pierce managed the operations of the House, advised the Speaker on policy matters and played an integral role in advancing the caucus agenda.

Pierce held positions at the executive level in former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer’s administration as the Governor’s External Affairs Coordinator and for former Attorney General Mark Brnovich as the Director of Community Outreach.
Pierce is an active volunteer and serves on numerous Valley boards, including Valley FCA, Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce, Arizona Lodging and Tourism Association, Phoenix Community Alliance, Phoenix Sister Cities Commission, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation – Arizona Chapter, A for Arizona, and on the Advisory Board for WISE Arizona. She also serves on the Public Affairs Committee for the Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
